Sangeetha Nataka Academy Award to Music Director Ilayaraja

Music Director Ilayaraja has been chosen to receive the Sangeetha Nataka Academy Award for the year 2012. Though the Music Director had earlier received National award Padma Bhushan, the Sangeetha Nataka Academy Award is something unique in its nature.

The award has been given to eminent musicians, singers including playback singers each and every year. Mr Ilayaraja will be given a cash citation of Rs.1 lakh along with the award.

Suriya in guest-role for Chennaiyil Oru Naal

Suriya will be appearing in a guest role for the Malayalam remake in Tamil, titled Chennaiyil Oru Naal.

The Malayalam film 'Traffic' was a box-office hit, had brought a large amount of theatre collections. In the remake film Sarath Kumar, Prakash Raj, Prasanna, Radhika, Ramya Nambisan, Mallika and other leading artistes appear in meaty roles.The film is directed by Shahid Khader.

As of now Suriya who is busy with the schedules of Singam 2, seems to have given nod to appear in the guest role of the film, sources said.

This will be second time for Suriya to appear in a guest-role. It is to be remembered he appeared in Avan Ivan film directed by Bala.

The story-line of the film is what is happening between people from different walks of life in 24 hours in Chennai.

Kamal not in agree with Capital Punishment for rapists

Actor Kamal Hassan who was in Cochin for the audio launch of the Vishwaroopam, said that he did not agree the decision of capital punishment to the persons who are allegedly involved in the recent rape case. He asked  "how could we justify one crime by committing another".

" It is my bus, she is my sister and the man who committed the crime is my brother ! I am ashamed " gushed the actor Kamal Hassan on the rape-incident that took place recently in Delhi.

The actor confirmed that he had inked pacts with some leading DTH providers to exhibit Vishwaroopam through the DTH platforms, on January 10, day before the film is getting released in Tamil and Hindi. He said the film would be shown through the DTH at 9.30 PM and the charges for viewing the film would be Rs.1000 from each house.
